Granton Village Board Holds Special Economic Development Meeting
Thursday, February 22nd, 2018 -- 9:08 AM
-The Granton Village Board held a Special Economic Development meeting after their regular meeting last week.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the purpose of the special meeting was to discuss ideas to improve Granton’s economic standing and included community members, school board members and more. Sheila Nyberg with the Clark County Economic Development Corporation and Tourism Bureau kicked off the meeting by outlining some of the trends they’re seeing in Clark County. Some of the big developments include job availability, lower unemployment rates, a stream of young educated youth returning to the area, and a demand and a shortage of housing. All of these are improving our economic value and our potential for growth.
Sheila noted Granton’s unique location just off of the highway and nestled between Neillsville and Marshfield. Granton has a tight knit community offering everything from gas, groceries, a bank, a post office, a restaurant and a hardware store. CCEDC can assist Granton in growth opportunities if the village advises housing and land availability in Granton. As opportunities arise they can pass the information along. We’ll hear more on this meeting on Friday.
