Marshfield Mayoral Candidates Set

Wednesday, February 21st, 2018 -- 8:39 AM

(WDLB) -Marshfield’s next Mayor will either be current Alderman Tom Witzel or political newcomer Bob McManus.

They were the top two vote-getters in a three-way primary election on Tuesday. Alderman Rebecca Spiros finished in third place, and does not advance to the April third general election. McManus was the top vote-getter with 632"finishing ahead of two current members of the Common Council. Witzel finished a close second with 630 votes. Spiros finished with 561 votes. Also in the city of Marshfield, incumbent Donna Rozar was the top vote-getter in a three-way primary for her Wood County Board seat in District Two. Rozar has held the seat in the northwest part of Marshfield since 2000.

Tony Eilers finished in second place with 104 votes. Rich Gaertner was third with 75, and he will not advance to the general election in April. Despite icy weather and slippery roads and sidewalks to start the day, along with gusty winds and falling temperatures in the afternoon and evening hours, nearly 18-hundred of Marshfield’s 93-hundred registered voters went to the polls. That was a citywide turnout of 19-percent.
