Granton Village Board Hears Water Report

Tuesday, February 20th, 2018 -- 10:14 AM

-The Granton Village Board heard the Water Report at their meeting last week.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the DNR inspection is set for Monday Feb 19th and well head protection for Well 5 is needed, but this has to be done by an engineer. The village will ask about a price quote for Well Protection and also get a quote from MSA for their next board meeting. It was also confirmed that lead and copper testing does not need to be done until 2020. The board also heard the Waste Water Report. An employee advised that he completed the iron removal exam required for the water certification. There is only one more exam to complete before the employee has earned his certification. Also, there was a repair done to the water line break on Granton Road. The leak was located 7 feet below ground. During the last snow and ice storm the dump truck broke down so sanding was completed with the backhoe bucket. This caused large amounts of sands to be deposited on the road but sanding was at least completed.

The village restroom was upgraded with a new sink and flooring. The village office sunk 2 inches on the south wall. Braces were added in the basement to fix the problem. The orange carpet that had been pieced into the office, causing tripping hazards and was difficult to vacuum, was removed and new carpet was installed. This improved the musty smell in the office and was long overdue.
