Primary Election Today, Wood County Board of Supervisors a Highlight

Tuesday, February 20th, 2018 -- 9:07 AM

(WDLB) -There is a primary election today for a seat on the Wood County Board of Supervisors.

Three people are running for the District Two seat which represents the northwest part of Marshfield. The incumbent is Donna Rozar, who’s held the seat since 2000. And after being largely unopposed for most of that time, she now has two challengers in the primary round of the election cycle. Rozar has chaired the Health and Human Services Committee, and served on the committee which reorganized county government when the Board of Supervisors dropped to the current 18 members. Rich Gaertner is one of the two people challenging Rozar in the primary election today. He says a neighbor asked him to run for the seat, then attended a committee meeting where Wood County finances were discussed. And with a banking and investment background, Gaertner believes he could bring a lot to the position.

Gaertner has over 20 years of corporate leadership experience, including a stint at Figi's. And he does local business consulting, and does some teaching at the post secondary level at Mid State Technical College and U-W Marshfield-Wood County. And like Gaertner, Tony Eilers was asked by a district resident to run for the board. Eilers says he has a particular interest in public safety. His main concern is the drug problems facing the area. He is a native of Wild Rose, has lived in Winneconne, and has lived most recently in Texas. His family has been back in Wisconsin since July.
