Man Sentenced for Having Meth Lab at his Home

-A man arrested in connection with a meth lab that was discovered in a Melrose home in Jackson County was sentenced on Wednesday.According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, they, along with several other agencies, executed a search warrant at a home in Melrose, which is south of Black River Falls, back in April of 2016. They discovered several “one-pot” meth labs along with meth manufacturing materials. The “one-pot” labs are very dangerous because they easily explode or catch fire. The Melrose Fire Department was called in as a precaution.
The home belonged to James Schlifer. He was found guilty of all the charges against him during a jury trial back in November of last year. He was sentenced to 8 years in prison with 5 years of extended supervision. He also owes the courts $176.
