The Marshfield School District Working Toward New Athletic Facilities

Thursday, February 15th, 2018 -- 9:03 AM

(WDLB) -The Marshfield School District is well on its way to getting new athletic facilities. That's what Marshfield's Board of Education was told last night.

A group of private citizens is leading a capital campaign to raise seven-million dollars for additions like a new football stadium. And Board Member Mark Konrardy said last night the group has hit 65-percent of its fundraising goal so far, through pledges and donations. Konrardy said the private group has raised over four-point-six million dollars in the past five months, and the campaign is now entering the public phase to meet or exceed the seven-million-dollar goal. The money will be combined with a three-and-a-half million dollar commitment by the school district. The Rettler Corporation of Stevens Point has designed more than 10-million dollars worth of athletic facility improvements over the next several years.

Among other things, the plan is calling for a new four-thousand-seat, multi-use sports complex next to the high school for football, track-and-field and soccer. The new complex will be named in honor of major donors Ken and Ardyce Heiting. The plan also calls for new track and soccer fields at Marshfield Middle School, along with a soccer and practice football field and J-V baseball field on the vacant lot adjacent to the Tiny Tiger Center west of the high school.
