-Marshfield Immanuel Lutheran’s A Basketball Team’s hard work pays off in a big way.Marshfield Immanuel Lutheran A Basketball Team was officially invited to the Lutheran Sports Association 2018 Tournament of Champions. This is equivalent to the “State” tournament for public schools. Immanuel Lutheran Marshfield School is very small in size, with the average grade size being 5-13 students, and a school will usually assemble one A team which includes the best 5-10 players regardless of grades. So, you may have a 5th grader playing against 8th graders. Marshfield Immanuel has had 4 great kids that have been together playing on the “A” team since they were in 4th grade. They would play anyone and everyone and usually lose by 40-50 points due to their size; some nights they would play twice against a B team and then the A team, proving their love for the sport.
That hard work has paid off as they are now 8th graders with great experience. And, as a result, have only lost one regular season game this year. They have participated in tournaments throughout the state. They are honored to be selected to participate at State. This has never happened. They will definitely be the smallest team; therefore, the kids will be watching “Hoosiers” before the tournament. In addition these truly are great boys. As leaders on the court they are also leaders at school, chapel buddies to younger children, participate in fund raisers and they all take school very serious.
