Wisonsin DOT and Loyal Police Department Make Drivers Aware of New 4-Way Stops in Loyal

-In the 2017 construction season, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation completed an improvement project on WIS 98 through the City of Loyal.The project included reconstruction of WIS 98 from Helm Street to Elm Drive. New water main, sanitary sewer and storm sewer were also installed. As part of the project, the intersections of WIS 98 and County K were upgraded to all-way stops. WisDOT, in coordination with the Loyal Police Department, would like to make drivers aware of the upgraded intersections and change to traffic patterns. Drivers making right turns at the WIS 98 and County K intersections are reminded to do so from the normal driving lane, not from the hatched-out area next to the curb.
The hatched locations are to allow for tracking of large trucks making wide right turns. Entering these areas can pose severe safety issues, especially next to a truck. The Loyal Police Department reminds drivers that an improper turn citation can lead to a $175.30 fine with three points from a driver’s license.
