Medford Woman Sentenced for Embezzling

-A Medford woman charged for concealing and embezzling payments from Aspirus of Medford was sentenced in Taylor County Court on Thursday.Christine Gengler was responsible for billing and contracting work for the ambulance service. She’s accused of taking payments due to the hospital and concealing them into a Medford Emergency Medical Services Association and then embezzling the money. Investigators concluded that Gengler took $6,805 from the Medford EMS Association. The embezzlement began in October, but she was fired before then due to theft of medical supplies payroll discrepancies and other violations. She said she used the money to purchase food, gifts, alcohol and other items.
Gengler was found guilty, due to a no contest plea, of theft of moveable property. A second charge of forgery was dismissed and read in. The court agreed to defer a judgement as long as Gengler payed restitution in the amount of $6,499.96, wrote a letter or apology to the victims and completes 10 hours of community service.
