Man Who Cut Off Fingertips in Attempt to Frame Another Man Sentenced in Wood County Court

-A man who cut off his own fingertips in order to frame another man was sentenced in Wood County Court on Thursday.Back in September, Damon Laru broke into the home of a man he had a relationship with. He tried to start the man’s bed sheets on fire and cut him with a knife. Laru then cut off the tips of his own fingers to try and frame the man. Laru was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety, battery and criminal damage to property. Two other charges were dismissed and read in.
Laru was sentenced to 10 months in jail and 2 years’ probation. He must also maintain absolute sobriety and he can have no contact with the victim.
