Marshfield Aldermen to Consider Two-Way Alley in City's Downtown
Wednesday, February 7th, 2018 -- 9:14 AM
(WDLB) -Marshfield aldermen will be asked next week to sign off on creating a two-way alley in the city’s downtown. The city’s Board of Public Works made the recommendation Monday night.City engineer Tom Turchi says the newly rebuilt one-way Second Street adjacent to the new Wenzel Family Plaza creates difficulties for drivers wanting to access the nearby parking from Chestnut Avenue. Alderman Ed Wagner cast the only “no” vote against the proposed change. All alley ways west of Central Avenue go to the south, and all alleys east of Central run north.
This change would allow drivers to access Wenzel Family Plaza parking by going north in the alley off of Third Street, instead of having to drive around to the one-way Second Street to come in the alley going south. The Common Council will consider the change next Tuesday night, February 13th.
