Black River Falls Man Sentenced for 6th OWI

-A Black River Falls man arrested for his 6th OWI was sentenced in Jackson County Court last week.According to deputies, Lucas Shankey was arrested after the department received a report of a vehicle in the ditch on County Road K southeast of Merillan back in December. Shankey was walking away from the vehicle. After determining the vehicle belonged to him, a breath test was administered and he was arrested for OWI.
He was found guilty, due to a no contest plea of operating with a PAC, 6th offense. An operating while revoked charge was dismissed and read in and a 6th OWI charge was dismissed on the prosecutor’s motion. He was sentenced to one year in jail, his license was revoked for 36 months, he must have an ignition interlock device and he owes the courts $4,628.
