January Class III Milk Price Released

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -The USDA announced that the January Class III milk price was released at $14.00 per hundredweight.That's down $1.44 from December's price (which was the lowest announced base price of the past year) and $2.77 less than January 2017. For the entire year, the Class III price averaged $16.17 in 2017. That compares with $14.87 during the previous year. The Class IV component price was 38-cents less than last month's price at $13.13, and was $3.06 lower than last January.
Meanwhile, the USDA reported that Wisconsin farmers received an average price of $17.80 per cwt. for their milk in December. That was a drop of $1.20 from November's price and $1.90 less than the same time last year.
