Marshfield Residents to See Change in Garbage and Recycling Pickup
Thursday, February 1st, 2018 -- 9:00 AM
(WDLB) -Marshfield residents will see a big change in garbage and recycling pickup in a few months, and they’ve got just a few more weeks to choose the size of their refuse and recycling containers. The city is working with Advanced Disposal of Central Wisconsin on what’s called an automated system, meaning refuse and recycling workers would not have to leave their trucks to collect those materials. City Public Works Director Dan Knoeck says city residents will get one wheeled cart for garbage, and another for recycling, which workers could empty from their trucks. And he says Marshfield residents now have less than two weeks to choose what size carts they want for both garbage and recycling. So, the deadline for choosing the new garbage and recycling carts is Tuesday, February 13th.
Those residents who don’t indicate a choice will automatically receive two 96-gallons containers be default. For those who desire a smaller size, 64-gallon and 35-gallon options are also available. Advanced Disposal will begin delivery of the new carts on April 10th, with the first collection date with the new carts scheduled for April 30th.
