Charges Filed in Two Separate Cases Involving Former Homeless Shelter in Marshfield

Tuesday, January 30th, 2018 -- 9:14 AM

-Charges have been filed in two separate cases involving a former homeless shelter in Marshfield.

The St. Vincent Frederic Ozanam Transitional Shelter was closed on December 5th. At the time, a statement released by the shelter said the closure was due to financial and staff problems. However, a week before the closure, an employee reported that a 13-year-old boy was seen sexually assaulting a 3-year-old girl. This wasn’t the first time the boy had been accused of sexual assault and he later admitted to authorities that he assaulted the girl. Charges have been filed against him. It was also stated that the former director of the shelter asked the staff to not contact police about the assault, but authorities haven’t verified if that’s true.

In the 2nd case, charges have been filed against 42-year-old Kari Hendrickson, the former director of the shelter. Hendrickson is accused of taking supplies from the shelter and taking donated items and money for personal use. There was also a case of domestic violence investigated at the shelter. However, the victim has chosen not to press charges, but the option to do so remains open.
