Wisconsin Egg Production Report for December 2017

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Wisconsin egg production was 171 million eggs during December, which was an increase of nine percent from the month earlier and 17 percent more than last year.According to the latest USDA Chickens and Eggs, the average number of all layers on hand last month reached an all-time record of 6.83 million, up 21 percent from 2016 figures. Eggs per 100 layers for December were 2,505, up nine percent from last month, but down three percent from last year.
Nationally, egg production in the United States totaled 9.07 billion during December. That was down slightly from last year. Production included 7.94 billion table eggs, and 1.14 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.06 billion were broiler-type and 80.3 million were egg-type.
The total number of layers averaged 382 million, up one percent from last year.
