-The Neillsville City Council approved the purchase of a house at their meeting on Tuesday. The council approved the purchase of the property at 1710 Black River Road. The intention of the city is to purchase the property and demolition it and use the area for green space. The house is owned by an individual in Loyal and has been a bit of an eye sore as people come into Neillsville at the north end of town for some time. The council hopes to put a welcome sign and other decorations in that spot once the house demolition and cleaned up. The cost for the city came to $13,000.
There was an inquiry as to whether the city could do a controlled burn of the home for practice for the Neillsville Fire Department. However, Public Works Director Dave Flynn and Neillsville Fire Chief Matt Meyer felt it was too risky due to the location of the home.
