Helping Youth Get to College

Sunday, January 21st, 2018 -- 8:03 AM

New research on college savings accounts for young children suggests that children are four times more likely to enroll in college and about five times more likely to graduate from college than a child with no savings account.

These enrollment and graduation rates were found even in families with less than $500 saved for their child’s future education. Clark County Association for Home and Community Education will present, “Helping Youth Get to College: Small Savings = Big Dreams for Young Children on January 23, 10:00 a.m., at Loyal City Hall. In this educational program, participants will learn about the importance of starting early to save for college, the impact that a savings program has on a young person’s identity, different saving vehicles that are available, and how HCE club members can help with their college scholarship program.
