Jackson County DA's Office Clears Sheriff's Deputy for Shooting

-The Jackson County District Attorney’s office has decided that no charges will be filed against a Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy who fatally shot another man.Back in October, Deputy Justin Wathke tried to pull over 27-year-old Lucas DeFord. DeFord kept going and drove to a home in Black River Falls. He then got out of the vehicle and pointed a gun, which looked like a regular pistol, but was later identified as a BB gun, at Deputy Wathke’s head. Wathke fired twice, killing DeFord.
The District Attorney’s office said the Wathke reasonably acted in self-defense.
