Owen-Withee School Board Hears Audit Report

Tuesday, December 19th, 2017 -- 10:39 AM

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard the completed audit at their meeting last week.

The board reviewed and discussed the 2016-17 financial audit done for the district by Schenk. Districts are required to undergo an audit each year by the DPI. Schenk found no major findings in their audit. Each year they find some things that deal with segregation of duties in the business office which are very common in small school districts. The 2018-19 proposed school calendar was also presented to the board. The calendar features 4 days of summer school in late August, school beginning on Tuesday, September 4th, and getting out on May 30th 2019. The board will now hear input on the proposed calendar for the next month and vote on it in January.

Finally, the board heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor reported on the elementary food drive that culminated on November 17th with over 1500 food items being collected by elementary students and staff. Mrs. Niemi and Mrs. Westaby represented the elementary at SLATE, or the state technology conference, last week. The December recognition day will be held on Thursday, December 21st at 8:35 AM and the elementary wants to thank Mrs. Dee Wells for nominating the elementary school for an Exxon Mobil Educational Alliance Grant worth $500. The elementary was informed last week that they will receive the grant, which will be used for math and science projects.
