Thursday, December 14th, 2017 -- 8:00 AM
(WDLB) -The Marshfield Board of Education is responding to one of its members’ involvement in a lawsuit against State School Superintendent Tony Evers.Mary Carney is a plaintiff in the lawsuit, along with New London School Board member Chris Martinson, and two teachers??"Kristi Koschkee of Pleasant Prairie and Amy Rosno of Burlington. The lawsuit was filed by the Milwaukee-based Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty, and claims that Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction are not following the “Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny”, or “REINS”, Act.
And while all four plaintiffs are participating in the lawsuit as taxpaying citizens and not district officials or employees, Marshfield School Board President Marlene Stueland issued a statement at last night’s monthly board meeting to clarify that Carney does not represent the Board of Education as a whole??"despite at least one media report that stated otherwise. The board will investigate whether Carney violated any district board policies by participating in the lawsuit.
