Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union raised $1,752.82 through "Pie in the Face" Fundraiser for Marshfield Children's Hospital.

Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union raised $1,752.82 last month in a special fundraiser for Marshfield Clinic Health System Foundation. In total, MMCCU collected $752.82 and both President David Murphy and MMCCU contributed $500 for a total donation of $1,752.82.

All funds were donated to MCHS Foundation to support Child Life and Expressive Therapies at Marshfield's Children's Hospital. The fundraiser coincided with Murphy assuming his new role as President on May 1.

Staff members at MMCCU competed to raise the most funds between May 1-31, with Carol Rae Kulibert raising the most at $752.82. Kulibert won the opportunity to throw a pie in Murphy's face, however wanted to have a child throw the pie given the nature of the fundraiser. Murphy's girlfriend Samantha and her daughter Nona did the honors. Kulibert made a massive banana cream pie for the occasion.

Child Life and Expressive Therapies facilitate a positive experience for pediatric patients undergoing difficult procedures, surgeries, receiving ongoing care such as chemotherapy and children of adult patients. Child Life Specialists are trained professionals with expertise in helping children and families through challenging situations in a health care setting.

They work to normalize a child's environment and reduce the stress of medical experiences by increasing understanding of medical procedures through medical and therapeutic play before and after procedures, providing support, coping skills and distraction techniques during treatment, and enhancing positive physical, cognitive, emotional and social interactions with music and pet therapy.

If you would like to donate, donations are always welcome for the program at https://www.marshfieldclinic.org/giving. Founded in 1965, Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union is a closed charter, not-for-profit financial institution dedicated to exclusively serving the financial needs of employees in the medical community and their immediate families, therefore designed to best serve the financial needs of this specific group of people.
