Marshfield Man Charged with Sexual Assault of a Child

Wednesday, November 29th, 2017 -- 11:12 AM

(USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin) -A 32-year-old Marshfield man has been charged with sexual assault after he was accused of molesting a young girl before he was caught by the child's mother.

The man’s charges include first-degree sexual assault of a child under age 13 and child enticement. If convicted of all charges, he faces a maximum of 125 years in prison. A Marshfield woman told police she had walked in on the man sexually assaulting her daughter on Nov. 19, according to court records. The mother said she slapped them man to get him away from the girl, then got the child dressed and immediately took her to the emergency room at Marshfield Medical Center, according to court documents. The girl told police that she knew what he planned to do when he called her into the bedroom, because he had done it before, according to court documents.

While police were investigating the assault report, a family member called authorities to report that the man was in his basement and threatening to use a box cutter to hurt himself, according to documents. Wood County Circuit Judge Greg Potter has set a $50,000 cash bond for the man with conditions he have no contact with the girl or her mother.
