Wisconsin Egg Production Was Up In October

Wisconsin egg production during October was 151 million eggs, up four percent from last month and five percent more compared to the same time last year.According Wisconsin Ag Connection, and the latest Chickens and Eggs report from the USDA, the average number of all layers on hand last month was 6.69 million, up four percent from September and an increase of 15 percent over October 2016. Eggs per 100 layers for September were 2,249--a slight increase from last month, but down eight percent from last year.
Nationally, egg production totaled 8.83 billion during October, down slightly from 2016. The average number of layers totaled 374 million, up one percent from last year. October egg production per 100 layers was 2,359 eggs, down one percent from the previous October.
