Neillsville School Board Report

The Neillsville School Board began their meeting on Monday with a student expulsion hearing.

The board approved the expulsion of a student for the remainder of the school year for possessing a firearm while at school and under the supervision of school authority. The Terms of the expulsion included the student be expelled from the schools of the School District of Neillsville through November 20, 2018; the student will be allowed back to school to attend classes from 12:04 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. beginning November 27, 2017, on days school is in session; the student cannot be on school grounds outside of his specified class hours; the student can lose the 2nd term if the high school principal deems appropriate based on their behavior; and the student will not be allowed to drive on school grounds through November 27, 2017.

The board also heard parents of hockey players discussing the hockey co-op with Black River Falls; Amy Gerhardt and FFA members presented their ideas for fundraising for the greenhouse, it was mentioned that Rick Opelt and Dewey Poeschel are up for re-election this spring and they approved accepting a foreign exchange student from Italy for second semester of this year.
