(WDLB) -Marshfield’s shared-ride taxi cab service was temporarily halted yesterday, when drivers went on strike.Drivers took to the sidewalks in front of the Marshfield Public Transit building at 551 S. Central Ave., carrying signs demanding better wages. Running Incorporated based in Viroqua operates as Marshfield Public Transit in the city of Marshfield, providing public transportation to the general public as a federally-subsidized shared-ride service. The city of Marshfield owns about a dozen taxi vehicles and leases them to Running, while state and federal funding helps provide the service in the city.
Justin Running said that wage increase opportunities had been an ongoing issue prior to the strike. Running was notified at 6:30 Monday morning that drivers had gone on strike. He came to Marshfield to meet with the drivers, and by 10 a.m. they were back on the road. Running said he and the drivers came to an agreement, and he will continue working with them.
