The Neillsville City Council heard the Public Works Report at their meeting on Tuesday. The usual amount of work was done in the city including equipment maintenance, cemetery and parks maintenance, mowing, street sweeping, winterizing items, maintaining street lighting, filling pot holes and more. They’re also continuing leaf pickup and the tree removal project is on hold for the time being. When it comes to leaf pickup, they ask again that you do not put sticks, branches, dog feces or other yard waste in your leaf pile because it plugs up the vacuum. If the department finds those items before they begin, they’ll throw them back in your yard. They’ve also begun putting up the Christmas decorations in the city.
During the communications portion of the meeting, one council member talked about the taxi, with ridership being down 3-5% and a meeting regarding insurance with city employees. It was also mentioned that the city’s tree cutting plan is at city hall and the library and the city would like all their employees on direct deposit. Finally, the Historic Preservation Commission’s new calendar is out and a recent accident in Colby involving a man a scooter has helped Neillsville justify their new ordinance regarding sidewalks.
