Marshfield Native Becomes Executive Director of Midwest Horse Fair

(USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin) -A Marshfield native who graduated from UW-Stevens Point now leads one of the largest horse fairs in the United States.Megan Hanuszczak, who has worked for the Midwest Horse Fair in Madison since 2012, has been promoted to executive director. Hanuszczak was lead event coordinator for the Midwest Horse Fair for two years and had served as interim executive director since July. Hanuszczak, 32, graduated from Marshfield High School in 2003. She went on to get her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 2007 and now lives in Columbus with her husband and their 2-year-old daughter. The three-day horse fair has been held annually in Madison since 1979, pumping an estimated $11 million into the local economy each year.
The nonprofit Wisconsin Horse Council, which owns the fair, uses the proceeds for grants, scholarships, trail improvements, leadership development programs and equine industry promotions. It features seminars, clinics, riding demonstrations and competitions, entertainment and shopping. In 2017, the event drew more than 700 horses and a near-record 61,000 people.
