Marshfield Has A New Sister City

Marshfield has a new Sister City. Mayor Chris Meyer and the Deputy Mayor from Zhangjiagang (shang-zy-yang), China signed a formal document at city hall Friday morning, finalizing a “Sister City” relationship between the two municipalities.The Deputy Mayor from Zhangjiagang says he’s happy with the relationship and new partnership with Marshfield. The delegation from Zhangjiagang is touring the city of Marshfield today, stopping first at City Hall Plaza to sign a Memorandum of Understanding, creating the official “Sister City” relationship. The two sides also exchanged gifts. Among them, Mayor Meyer accepted an authentic Chinese tea pot.
The Chinese delegation also includes tourism, education and technology officials from Zhangjiagang. They are touring Mid-State Technical College, Marshfield High School and Marshfield Clinic during their visit. They were heading back to China this weekend.
