Owen-Withee School Board Discusses Moving 6th Grade to Middle School

Friday, October 27th, 2017 -- 9:04 AM

-The Owen-Withee School Board discussed moving the 6th grade to the middle school at their meeting on Monday.

The possibility of moving the 6th grade from the elementary school to the Jr. High was initiated this past summer. After discussions with administrations and some of the teachers who might be involved, it was brought to the board to get their reaction and input. The board showed interest in the idea and gave their blessing to continue the investigation, gather input and start to create a plan the MIGHT be implemented in the 2018-19 school year. Also, the board entered into a Health Insurance consortium last spring with the intent of creating a formal cooperative this year. Twelve districts, with over 1200 employees, went into the consortium and are finalizing their membership in the cooperative.

One of the main criteria for creating the co-op is the creation of bylaws. The board unanimously approved the bylaws created for the Central Wisconsin Area Schools Benefits Insurance Purchasing Cooperative which include a promissory note of one month’s premium should the district pull out of the cooperative before the end of the three year agreement.
