New Date for Central Wisconsin State Fair?

(USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin) -The Central Wisconsin State Fair could move from Labor Day weekend, straying from more than 100 years of tradition. The move would be made to accommodate the new carnival company the fair intends to hire, Indiana-based North American Midway Entertainment, which is not available Labor Day weekend. The Central Wisconsin State Fair Board voted Monday to hold the event one week prior to Labor Day weekend; however, the schedule change is contingent on confirmation from the board's attorney that it can legally end its contract with the current carnival company.
If the fair is able to get out of its current contract with A&P Enterprise Shows, the event would be held Tuesday through Sunday one week prior to Labor Day weekend. A North American Midway Entertainment representative told the board that moving the date of the fair was wise, as it would move it away from the beginning of school and would not be an impediment for families who vacation out of town on the holiday weekend.
