Several Soldiers Hurt in Crash Near Unity

Wednesday, October 18th, 2017 -- 10:29 AM

-Several solders are injured after a three vehicle accident on Highway 13 by Highway K in the Village of Unity.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call of the crash at about 7:28pm on Friday, October 13th. Initial investigation indicates that truck hauling insulation being driven by 37-year-old Wade Oehmichen, turned south on Highway 13 from Highway K in Unity. When the truck turned, its load shifted and several plastic wrapped bails of insulation fell onto the roadway. A north bound semi-tractor being driven by 64-year-old Bruce Severance, struck several bails of insulation causing the bails to come apart and fly into the air and on the road. A military convoy was south bound on Highway 13 in Unity, going to Fort McCoy, when the bails were struck. A military truck being driven by 20-year-old Hunter Plamann stopped and was rear-ended by another military truck being driven by 26-year-old Levi Parker.

A bus being driven by 21-year-old Camren Armbrust, carrying about 32 soldiers, then rear-ended the truck being driven by Levi. There was a combined total of 13 solders injured in the accident in the two trucks and bus. Military personnel started to treat the injured before ambulance personnel arrived. The sound bound lanes of Highway 13 were blocked for several hours. All of the soldiers were transported to the Marshfield Medical Center for minor injuries.

The Central Fire and Ambulance Service responded to the scene with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Spirit Ambulance Service and the Owen-Withee Ambulance. The investigation is continuing by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
