Medford Woman Enters Plea for Embezzlement

Wednesday, October 18th, 2017 -- 10:28 AM

-A Medford woman charged for concealing and embezzling payments from Aspirus of Medford appeared in court.

56-year-old Christine Gengler was responsible for billing and contracting work for the ambulance service. She’s accused of taking payments due to the hospital and concealing them into a Medford Emergency Medical Services Association and then embezzling the money. Investigators concluded that Gengler took $6,805 from the Medford EMS Association. The embezzlement began in October, but she was fired before then due to theft of medical supplies payroll discrepancies and other violations. She said she used the money to purchase food, gifts, alcohol and other items.

Gengler entered a not guilty plea to the charges against her, which include theft in a business setting and forgery. No future court date has been set at this time.
