(WDLB)- Marshfield residents would pay 45-cents more per month for wastewater charges, under a recommendation by the city's Board of Public Works. On Monday night, the board voted in favor of a 45-cent rate increase for the monthly fixed rate for the wastewater utility. Phil Severson from Madison-based Strand Associates, which did the annual review of the utility for the city, said the increase amounts to one-percent for the typical residential user.
Alderman Ed Wagner said it's a small increase, but it's because there's less water usage. Severson said conservation over time should reduce overall plant operation costs. The rate increase was forwarded to the full Common Council for its consideration next week.
