Wausau Mail Facility Closure Could Mean Delay In Deliveries

Postal union representatives warn that a plan to close Wausau’s mail sorting facility could lead to delivery delays in parts of Wisconsin.
According to the Associated Press, the U.S Postal Service announced last month that it plans to consolidate 18 mail facilities nationwide.
In Wisconsin, mail sorting from the Wausau facility would move to Green Bay. The latest plan would complete the process the Postal Service started then and would affect mail across central and northern Wisconsin.
Michael Tomczyk, American Postal Workers Union president at the Wausau plant said about 15 people would lose their jobs in the consolidation and more would face potential reassignments or early-retirement offers. About 40 clerks work in the facility and 15 maintenance people.
