Granton Village Board Discusses Issue with Water and Sewer Lines Near Bridge
Friday, October 13th, 2017 -- 11:09 AM
-The Granton Village Board discussed water and sewer line issues near the bridge at their meeting on Wednesday.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the village had to dig up the water and sewer lines at the bridge due to a resident complaint that his sewer was backing up. He had hired a plumber with R & S Plumbing who had made two trips to his trailer before identifying the sewer line was not hooked up. The village had hired MSA Engineers in 2016 to oversee the moving of the water and sewer lines during the county’s bridge replacement. At this point, the village became aware that water lines were not run to the 2nd trailer site. MSA had simply disconnected the water line. MSA advised that the sewer line was still hooked up. The village employees dug 6 feet to expose the water and sewer lines. Mike Voss and the village employees verified that the sewer was never hooked up to the trailer. Thus all sewage was seeping into open ground.
The resident at the trailer is submitting all plumbing bills to the village. The board discussed this issue and instructed the clerk to send MSA a bill for the employee labor, backhoe time, all parts required to hook up the sewer and provide water to site 2, and the plumbing bills submitted by the resident.
