Teachers Recognized at Crystal Apple Awards

(WDLB) -Two dozen of the area's top teachers were recognized last night, for their contributions to education.The Marshfield Chamber Foundation held its 15th annual Crystal Apple Awards at Hotel Marshfield. 25 educators were honored as Teachers of Distinction, and four were given top honors as the 2017 Crystal Apple Award winners. They included Amber Schultz, a first-grade teacher at Grant Elementary in Marshfield. Schultz is in her eighth year of teaching. She was one of two Marshfield teachers receiving Crystal Apple Awards last night. The other was Jessica LeMoine, a science instructor at M-H-S. LeMoine has taught at Marshfield High School for seven years. Two veteran teachers were also Crystal Apple Award recipients last night. Deb Heidmann has been teaching for 24 years, and has spent most of that time teaching second grade at Auburndale Elementary. Heidmann taught in Edgar for a few years, before switching to Auburndale. Another longtime elementary teacher honored last night was Scott Moseley from Greenwood. Moseley is currently teaching sixth graders at Greenwood, and has 25 years of teaching experience.
21 others were honored last night as teachers of distinction. They were Marshfield public school instructors Kathy Beilke, April Daul, Stacey DeJarlais, Lara Endries, Valerie Krall, Terri Schmidt, Jackson Hein, and Dean McFarlane. Several parochial school teachers were among the honorees as well. They were Jessie Bauer from St. John's, Donna Hayes from O-L-P, Jill Helgerson from Immanuel Lutheran, Amy Clifford from St. Joseph's in Stratford, Tracey Thompson from Columbus High School and Mike Wisniewski from Trinity Lutheran. Other teachers recognized last night were Patti Jennings and Abbi Roehrborn of Spencer, Chad Vanderwyst of Auburndale, Emily Batterman and Sarah Freedlund of Pittsville, Brad Helsten of Greenwood, and former Granton teacher MacKenzie Bennin. These instructors were among the 328 different teachers who received over 12-hundred nominations. All told, the Crystal Apple program has recognized more than 325 educators since its inception in 2003.
