Stratford School District Finishes Building and Remodeling Project

Thursday, October 5th, 2017 -- 8:00 AM

(WDLB) -The Stratford School District's year-long building and remodeling project officially ended Monday night, with dedication ceremonies for the project.

A ceremonial ribbon-cutting capped off the activities, which also included a reception and building tours. Superintendent Scott Winch said the evening was a fitting way to thank the community for its support, after voters passed a 16-million dollar referendum in the spring of 2016. During Monday's dedication ceremony, senior Jeremy Schoenherr spoke to the importance of having new and improved locker room facilities through the referendum.

There are new agriculture classrooms and lab space as well, and Ag Instructor Becky Wirkus said she'll be able to do so much more hands-on learning than she could before. There are five new classrooms in all, plus new and improved commons areas, restrooms, and corridors. Among other things, the elementary school got a new special education classroom, a new roof, windows, and infrastructure improvements. And the high school gym got a new floor.
