-The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has confirmed a cougar sighting on two trail cameras here in Clark County and Marathon County. The video from Clark County captured the sighting in early August south of Neillsville. The one in Marathon was captured east of Marathon City early this month. A third photo was allegedly taken in Waupaca County earlier this month, but DNR officials couldn’t confirm it.
The last DNR confirmed sighting was in 2015. Officials don’t believe cougars are breeding in Wisconsin. The DNR also reminds residents that hunting cougars is not allowed in Wisconsin and they don’t consider them to be a threat to the public.
