(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -The Pittsville FFA and FFA Alumni are once again holding cranberry tours this year to help pay for student scholarships, trips and other activities. The two-hour tours are being held just east of Pittsville, in which FFA members and students of the only cranberry science class taught in the nation will share information about how the fruit is grown, harvested and processed. Each of the tours will kick-off at the Pittsville High School at 9:30 a.m. on select dates. Stops include a current marsh under construction, new beds not yet in production, producing beds with the tourists given the opportunity to pick fresh fruit from the vine, as well as observing harvest, testing, cleaning and freezing of the berries. And a lunch that includes cranberry treats made by the high school's foods class will also be offered.
The charge for the tour is $20 dollars per person. Tours are being held today and Friday the 29th. They’re also being held on October 4th, 6th, 11th, 13th, 18th, 20th, 25th, and 27th.
