Marshfield Standoff Ends Peacefully

(WDLB) -A five-hour standoff in Marshfield Sunday ended peacefully when a wanted felon was arrested.24-year-old Michael Lea surrendered to police shortly after 3 p.m. yesterday, after police first made contact with him shortly before 10 a.m. Lea was wanted on a felony warrant for robbery in Kansas City, and Lieutenant Jody Geurink said a Marshfield Police officer saw him outside a home at 1110 East Kalsched Street, and attempted to speak with him. That's when Lea fled inside the mobile home, and the standoff began. Geurink said Lea was considered armed and dangerous based on his prior conviction for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and that the Marshfield Police Department had been made aware of the warrant and of his criminal history earlier in the month.
He said that prompted Sunday's large police response. Geurink said crisis negotiators made contact with Lea at around noon, and were eventually able to convince him to exit the residence three hours later. According to the city of Marshfield website, the property was purchased by Joseph McCune last October. Nearby resident Deborah Deglow said she had a run-in with Lea just over a week ago. Deglow said it was Lea's foster parents who lived in the home. It's not yet clear what charges Lea will be facing in connection with Sunday's incident.
