Employment Matters and More at Neillsville School Board Meeting

-The Neillsville School Board approved a donation and discussed employment matters at their meeting on Monday.

The board began the meeting by being introduced to the district’s new staff members. They then approved a donation of school supplies from American Legion Post 73. In employment matters, the board approved the hiring of Stephanie Opelt for a teaching assistant position, Alan Buchholz for the Head Start bus driver position, Jessica Brown for a C-Team volleyball coaching position, Sara Warren for a prom advisor position and Leah Janicki for a prom advisor position. The board also approved updated Letters of Appointment for Dana Nickel, Brian Friemoth and Mitch Conner. They also approve retention bonuses of $200 for final wage step support staff employees as presented.

The board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Scott Shiller reported on attendance, the PBIS Program, STAR testing and benchmarking, Educlimber training, picture day, parent/teacher conferences and a Kindergarten field trip to Cain’s Orchard. High Schol Principal Craig Anderson reported on attendance, goals for MS/HS this year, open campus update, cell phone policy change and speaker Jon Pritikin’s assemblies. Finally, District Administrator John Gaier reported on high cost transportation aid, voucher expansion legislation, an article regarding educator licensing, a press release from the School Administrators Alliance, a letter from Senator Moulton, a study regarding cell phones and concentration and two Focus articles.
