Memorial Medical Center Welcomes New Pediatrician, Part 2

-Memorial Medical Center has welcomed their new pediatrician, Dr. Mary TornhelDr. Tornhel’s first day was on Friday and she continued our interview by explaining where she grew up, went to school and more.
"I worked then for a year in Silar City, North Carolina at a small practice called Chattum Pediatrics. And that population was interesting. It was about 80-90% insured by medicaid and about 80-90% Spanish speaking as well by the immigrant population. So, I was there and then my husband finished a urological surgery residency in Chapel Hill and then we moved back to Wisconsin. He's from the Milwaukee area. So, we moved to Eau Claire and I started working for Marshfield Clinic in 2007. There I was working in the general pediatrics department. And I worked there until 2015. And, as time went on, I worked in various capacities, either in the general pediatrics department or in urgent care. And then, due to family obligations, I have taken the last two years off, but with my daughter starting Kindergarten last week, I'm excited to be back in practice."
Coming up on Wednesday, Dr. Tornhel will explain what she’s looking forward to working in the community she grew up in.
