Owen-Withee School Board Discusses School Forest

Monday, September 18th, 2017 -- 8:54 AM

-The Owen-Withee School Board discussed the school forest at their meeting last week.

The board discussed the school forest in the Town of Hoard and the progress being made in the Maple sap project. Concern was raised about the number of people hunting on the property without permission and the need to protect the district’s investment. The board unanimously approved posting of the Town of Hoard School Forest as a “NO TRESSPASSING” area. The board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor reported on the Open House held on August 24th with almost 100% of parents attending. The “Highly Encouraged” summer program went well the four days before school started. In excess of 90% of elementary students attended the four days of summer school.

District Literacy Assessments started last week and continue through the end of the month. Goodies Galore, the school store started by the 5th grade classes, will be open for business in the next few weeks, selling “goodies” to raise money for various projects around the school and community. Grandparents’ Day was Friday, September 15th from 1:30 PM??"2:30 PM. Picture day is Wednesday, September 20th and congratulations to Mrs. Fitzl and Miss Rahn on receiving funds to do their projects. Mrs. Fitlz purchased some flexible seating for her classroom and Miss Rahn got 10 3D pens for her classroom.
