Marshfield Area United Way Kicks Off Fundraising Campaign

Monday, September 18th, 2017 -- 8:01 AM

(WDLB) -The Marshfield Area United Way kicked off its annual fundraising campaign Sunday, by taking collections for a popular weekend meal program.

Nearly a-hundred people took jars of jelly to Rogers Cinema in Marshfield, which got them popcorn, soda and admission to a special viewing of a movie on the cinema's mega screen. United Way Director Paula Jero said it was a new way to kick off the fall fundraising efforts, and collect some much-needed supplies for the United Way's "Nutrition On Weekends", or "NOW" program.

This year's United Way fundraising campaign is being chaired by City of Marshfield Development Services Director Jason Angell and his family. Angell says the next step in the process is giving presentations to businesses and organizations about United Way and the various agencies and programs it serves. He says they're also exploring the idea of doing more family-oriented events like yesterday's movie day. In Angell's words, "We really wanna do it as a family campaign as much as possible".
