Owen-Withee School Board Summary

The Owen-Withee School Board heard about the district’s Fall Family Picnic at their meeting last Monday.The picnic was held on Wednesday at the Mill Pond Park in Owen to welcome the district’s new staff and kick off the school year. The board also heard the preliminary enrollment numbers for the school year. District Administrator Bob Houts stated the district has 485 students attending school in the district. The district lost more students to moving out than they gained moving in, but they continue to have more open enrolled kids come in than go out.
Also, it was stated the new summer school program implemented this summer has increased the district’s numbers for aid purposes. They will have an added enrollment of 8 students this year due to summer school, compared to 6 students added last year. The board approved purchasing the district’s insurance from TIC due to the fact that they had the lower bid and provided a hire dividend on the district’s worker’s comp. insurance.
