(WDLB) -The Marshfield School Board approved a contract with the Sweeney Group of Madison to provide fundraising consulting services to assist local residents who are trying to get funds donated for the proposed projects. The consulting contract totals 76-thousand-500-dollars. Board member Dorothy Chaney said that fee is very reasonable for what the district is getting. And Board Member Mark Konrardy, chairman of the district's Facilities Committee, reported that the consultant did give a positive evaluation to the private committee which has quietly been organizing to raise money, and all indications point to strong support for the project. The next steps of the project include working with the Sweeney Group to start the formal fundraising campaign, developing a community education plan to help the public understand the project, and an update from the design firm Rettler Corporation later this month.
The contract with Sweeney calls for capital campaign planning from now through November, followed by the actual capital campaign starting in December, and running through February of 2019. That work will include identifying potential major donors. Among other things, the plan is calling for a new football and outdoor track stadium next to the high school, plus new track and soccer fields at Marshfield Middle School, along with a soccer and practice football field and J-V baseball field on the vacant lot adjacent to the Tiny Tiger Center across from the high school.
