Wednesday, September 13th, 2017 -- 12:55 PM
-The Neillsville City Council approved a wage increase for the Neillsville Police Department at their meeting on Tuesday. The Wisconsin Professional Police Association contract was approved during a personnel committee meeting on August 28th and the council approved it last night. The police department will see a wage increase of $1 in 2018, $.40 in 2019 and $.50 in 2020. The council also approved allowing Dave Flynn, the Director of Public Works, to advertise for a Sewer Department Advanced Certified Operator. This person must have the proper license and insurance to be the operator for the city’s sewer plant and the department currently doesn’t have anyone who has those items, which are required by the DNR. This will allow them to use an independent contractor to find someone who can operate the sewer plant.
The council also approved a $32,000 donation from the Listeman Foundation. $2,000 will go towards the city’s Christmas decorations and $30,000 will go towards the building of a new bathroom in Schuster Park.
