Jackson County Horse Tests Positive for West Nile

-A horse in Jackson County has tested positive for the West Nile Virus.According to the Jackson County Health Department, WNV is transmitted to humans, horses, birds and other animals from mosquitoes. The presence of the virus confirms that mosquitoes are carrying the virus. Most people who are infected with the virus don’t get sick. And those that do usually get mild symptoms including fever, headache, rash, muscle ache and fatigue.
Wisconsin residents are encouraged to be vigilant in order to avoid the virus and horse owners should be sure to have their animals vaccinated for the virus.
