Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017 -- 8:00 AM
(WDLB) -Despite a mostly cloudy sky, more than 300 people came together in Marshfield Monday afternoon to see the eclipse.Simplicity Credit Union held a viewing party at their branch on East Upham Street in Marshfield. Director of Marketing Ben Bauer said they ordered 500 eclipse glasses for their branch locations in Marshfield and Plover, each location got 250 pairs, and both places quickly ran out.
Nine-year-old Kylee Soltow of Marshfield watched the eclipse with her brother Caiden. Joshua Gale of Marshfield brought 10-year-old Gabby Gale out to see the eclipse. Despite a doomsday forecast for the area, most people had at least a few breaks in the clouds to catch a glimpse of the first solar eclipse in America in 38 years.
